This afternoon a large group of the Mitre Sixth Form walked down to the Dales Care Home in Repton to sing Christmas carols and songs to the residents of the Care Home.

Mitre matron Margaret had prepared a feast of goodies for the girls and for the residents of the Dales including Christmas tree cup cakes, shortbread and delicious scones for everyone to enjoy as they got into the festive mood.
The girls started with a rendition of “Once in Royal David’s City”, with Charlotte Graham L6M taking the solo part. This was then followed by a range of other songs including a very jolly rendition of “Jingle Bells” and an interesting arrangement of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. Emma Stoll U6M did a great job of holding the afternoon together with her piano playing.

After the singing the girls stayed on to chat to the residents of the Dales. This was a lovely opportunity for the Mitre Sixth Form who really enjoyed the chance to get out into the local community and meet some of Repton’s residents.
Many thanks indeed to Margaret for organising the visit and for all the wonderful food she had prepared. We hope that this will now become an annual fixture in the lead up to Christmas.
