As many of your daughters will have already told you, very sadly this term one of our domestic team passed away. Maggie was a delightful lady who had been working in the House for the last 5 years and she was a firm favourite with the girls – especially the U6th on whose corridor she worked.
We have asked the girls in the House what they would like to do in Maggie’s memory and many of them have said that they would like to run in the “Race for Life” at Darley Park in Derby. The event which is externally organized is being held on Sunday 8th May 2011 at 11am. We hope to make a “large group” entry with over 50 of the girls and domestic staff running the event, which is a 5km run.
The cost of entry is £14.99, and as well as paying the entry fee we hope to also raise money through sponsorship of the whole House in the event. Many of the girls, as well as running for Maggie, have also indicated that they would like to run for relatives and friends in their memory.
I hope that this is an event you feel able to support. I know that the girls are very excited about it and are looking forward to a Sunday morning joining with many others in this inspiring event. If you are happy for your daughter to participate please do send in the completed letter to me by Friday 18th February 2011 so that we can make our group entry.
I hope many of you will also be able to join us on the day and encourage your daughters as they run, jog and walk the 5km!
