Mitre produces best effort to win the Cattley Shield!

I am delighted to report that Lists on the final Friday of the Summer term saw the presentation of the Cattley Shield to the Mitre. The Mitre have not won the Shield since 2005 and move from being runners up last year to taking the Shield this year.

This is one of the most impressive achievements for the House, and is based on consistency of effort across the year from all the girls in the House. Parents, I know, will be delighted that the Shield recognises that as a House the Mitre have put in the highest level of consistent effort across the course of the year in all year groups. Many members of the House have played a critical role in this and it is wonderful to report that this has even seen the A Block year group being given a whole House commendation by the Academic Deputy Head – Mr Owen for their outstanding effort grades throughout the year. Many girls from across all five year groups have been gaining straight “1’s” for effort and I hope that many of these will be rewarded with good grades in August for their public examinations.

The Mitre girls have proved their ability to produce the highest level of effort alongside their commitment to sport, drama, music and societies. As well as having a very successful year in all other areas of school life the Mitre is also the highest achieving House academically, which is a mark of the ability of Mitre girls to give their all in every aspect of school life.

We are very proud indeed of all the girls and especially of being awarded this prize which shows that they have learnt the most valuable lesson of prioritizing and time-management in order to balance extra-curricular life and the all important academic work they need to do in order to achieve their potential.
