Yesterday saw a tightly fought contest for the House swimming competition. The Mitre had a great afternoon, and in a repeat of the Caroline Tyler relays the event was dominated by Mitre and the Garden. The overall title went to the Garden, but Mitre more than held its own and the final points score of 81 to 100 is a wonderful indication of just how hard the Mitre team worked.
There were some superb performances from Mitre girls – especially from the Intermediates who won the overall Intermediate section of the afternoon and also came away with the cup for the Intermediate freestyle relay. There were some excellent individual performances during the course of the afternoon. Eleanor Sharples 5M was on fire - winning both her 25m Intermediate fly and the 50m Freestyle race. Lili Kettlewell 4M also worked really hard to win her 50m Intermediate backstroke race. Many congratulations too to Nat Mansfield who in her first inter-House swimming competition came away with the cup for the 50m freestyle Junior race.
Hannah Barker U6M and Tamsin Bowers U6M had done a superb job of organising the team and we are very grateful to the many members of the House who offered to swim on this occasion.
The balcony was full of the rest of the House who were in fine vocal form! Complete with banners and plenty of Mitre pink the rest of the House did a fantastic job of encouraging the Mitre swimmers and it was lovely to see such an enormous amount of House spirit on display.
Well done on a great performance and a fantastic afternoon of swimming and cheering girls.
