Mitre has a great “Sale of Work” weekend

Mitre has a great “Sale of Work” weekend

The Mitre “Sale of Work” weekend, started with a bonfire night tea on Friday evening. This came complete with indoor fireworks and a lovely atmosphere created by some of Trish’s imaginative cooking and some great decorations put up by the U6th prefects.

The L6th had been busy all week preparing for the day’s events and it was wonderful to see the stalls come together on Saturday morning. The “win a teddy” stall was especially popular with a clever game invented by Arkwright scholar Jade Shaw Wall L6M in DT during the course of the week.

There was also an enthusiastic crowd around the hot chocolate and apple crumble stalls. This year the L6th, with a significant amount of help from Mr Parish, managed to break a record and made 100 crumbles in the lead up to Sale of Work Day. There was also a Christmas decoration stall, using the ideas of Wiebke Green L6M, which proved a huge success with younger visitors to the “Sale of Work”.

With “Mitre Radio” providing the background music for the event it was wonderful to see Mitre playing a significant part in “Sale of Work” Day. It was also lovely to have both the Christmas salt dough decorations and the apple crumbles made by the girls themselves and many congratulations to all the L6th girls who had come up with such inventive ways of turning their own work into a way of generating money for the “Sale of Work” charities.

Many thanks too, to all members of the House who played a role in manning the stalls on the day. It was lovely to have the whole House out in their new Mitre hoodies and great to have such enthusiasm and energy on the stalls. The day finished with a number of events for the Sixth Form – including the U6th Orchard House dinner and a Mexican themed bar for all other Sixth Form. For the whole House there was a “Krispy Kreme” donut to enjoy as a thank you from Mrs Parish for all the hard work put into the day by all year groups.
