The “Parker 100” is an annual event named after Christopher Parker, a member of staff who died in 1985. Among his many talents he was master in charge of cross country running and in 1986 his successor Noel Bennett instigated the “Parker 100” in his memory.
The “Parker 100” is a challenge to any member of the school, young or old, male or female to run 100 miles within the Lent term. On completion of the mileage participants are entitled to a scarf or tie with “Parker 100” on it. The wonderful thing about this challenge is that “ordinary” runners and not just elite athletes are able to work hard and complete the challenge.
I am delighted to report that several Mitre girls have taken on the challenge this term and the following have now completed their 100 miles.
*Faye Bilsland L6M
*Emily Boyce L6M
*Daisy Collins 4M
Many congratulations to these girls who have all worked very hard and shown the kind of commitment, courage and passion that was the mark of Christopher Parker.
