Mitre Captains lead teams to victory in Rugby sixes tournament!

The U15A and U16A teams both won in the Rugby sixes tournament on Sunday.

The U15A team was ably captained by Nat Mansfield 4M and the team had a great afternoon of hockey winning their section of the tournament with relative ease by playing some fantastic hockey which has become the hallmark of this very successful team. Captain Nat Mansfield 4M did a superb job in defence and helped to make the opposition struggle to get to their goals. Zoe Buckland 4M produced the winning goal in the final of the competition, scoring within the first few minutes of the game to take Repton 1-0 ahead. It is lovely to see the Mitre girls having such an important part to play in this team.

The U16A team also had an excellent win at the Rugby sixes and had a weekend of high performance hockey having won their school match against Oundle by an impressive 3-0. Georgie Whitehouse 5M captained the U16 side at Rugby and certainly earned her position – taking sudden death penalty flicks to win a place for the team in the semi-final of the competition. In the first two games of the afternoon Repton drew 0-0 to Wellington College and drew again 0-0 to King's High. This meant they had to score going into the game against Uppingham. In this match Lili Kettlewell 5M did brilliantly to score one of the 2 goals that allowed Repton to win this match. With 7 of the 8 members of the team coming from Mitre including Lily Kitts, Lili Kettlewell, Amy Davies, Phoebe Roberts, Georgie Whitehouse, Clare Gething Lewis, and Ellie Jennings Edwards it was a great afternoon for the House and the girls were rightly very excited when they returned to the Mitre for tea. Clare Gething Lewis 5M made some superb saves as goalie to ensure that Repton stayed in the competition. Repton went into the final against Rugby and it was wonderful to see the Captain Georgie Whitehouse once again having a significant impact on the game scoring the only goal in a tight 1-0 victory.
Well done girls on all you have achieved this weekend – it is lovely to see you all enjoying your hockey and having such success against tough opposition.
