Mitre B Block lead Chapel

Mitre B Block lead Chapel

Mitre B Block girls this morning led Chapel for the whole B Block year group.

Miss Kinmond had done a wonderful job of preparing the Chapel with them, and the girls spoke on the theme of “Sacrifice”.

They challenged the rest of the year group to think about sacrifices that could be made in the coming days of Lent. Some suggestions included giving up hair straighteners, sacrificing chocolate and also giving more money in the weekly Chapel collection to this year’s Lent Charity “Passing It On” instead of spending it in Grubber and the Spar shop in the village. They also reflected on other nations of the world where people have less to be able to sacrifice than those living in developing countries such as the UK.

It is a very significant lesson for the girls in addressing their whole year group, as well as the Headmaster and other members of staff. Each of the girls was very confident as they spoke and directed their words well. This was an excellent experience and, I hope, the first of many occasions when the girls will take the opportunity to address their peer group.
