Medsoc Speaker

The second speaker to come to Medical Society continued the trend of being an invaluable asset to all present. Dr. Ruth Francis came in to talk a little about being a GP and how she got to where she is today, but mainly in order to give the society a valuable opportunity to ask lots of questions and hear honest and up-to-date answers. We were able to explore many avenues of Medicine, as Dr. Francis had been in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and also in Accident and Emergency medicine before choosing General Practice, which was especially useful as it reassured many of the members of Medsoc that we could alter our career paths in order to suit our interests and family lives. We even had a discussion on abortion, euthanasia and governmental approaches to Medicine! After an hour’s lively discussion, we had exhausted Dr Francis’ time. We are very grateful to her for coming in to talk with us, and are very excited about next term’s Medsoc schedule.
