Our Head of History, Dr N. Pitts, battled the blistering 25 degree heat (and 40 degree road temperature) on Sunday to successfully complete the Edinburgh Marathon. After training through a painful achilles injury, which put his place in the event in jeopardy, he finished in a highly respectable 3 hours and 47 minutes.
Over 16,000 runners competed on the day but many did not complete the circuit and over 240 were in need of medical assistance during the gruelling 26.2 miles.
Dr Pitts has so far raised approximately £600 for Cancer Research UK and if you would like to donate you can do so by visiting www.runningsponsorme.org/nathanielpitts1
