The Mitre harmony group did the Mitre proud this evening with their superb performance of “The Dog Days are Over”.
Kiki Betts Dean U6M had written a complicated arrangement, which was performed magnificently by the group. The adjudicator commented on the wonderful solo given by Emma Monteiro U6M which started the piece. He also highlighted the exceptional vocal range that Kiki had, as demonstrated in her own solo. In addition he highlighted how sensitively the girls had added in accompaniment such as clapping, whilst at the same time being sensitive to the need for the soloists to be heard.
Other members of the group included: Kate Dyer U6M, Hannah Fullelove U6M, Ellie Jennings Edwards 4M, Rose Knight L6M, Wiebke Green L6M and Charlotte Graham 5M. The girls had worked exceptionally hard on the harmony and it was wonderful to see them doing so well in a pupil-led performance. It was also fantastic to have representation from an ages of ranges from across the House.
There was a huge amount of House support for the group – with the U6th in particular turning out to listen to the performance. We are all very proud indeed of them for giving such an accomplished performance on such a challenging piece of music.
In addition to the Harmony group, the Mitre also provided some cake refreshments for the evening. The superb £54.10 raised from the sale of these cakes (iced at lunchtime by the girls!) will go towards the fundraising efforts for this term’s Lent Charity – “Passing It On”.
