Maddie bang on target

Maddie bang on target

Congratulations to Maddie Kelly (A Block), who stormed to success with a powerful performance in the Junior Drum Kit class of the House Music Competition on Sunday.

Peter Gritton, the Director of Music at St Paul's School, London, awarded Maddie first prize in recognition of her performance being of a higher level to the rest in her class. Indeed, despite Maddie’s assertions that she hadn’t practised; it was clear to the audience that she had a superb feeling of ‘pulse’ and a confidence that meant she struck her base pedal with thunderous aplomb!

It was particularly heart-warming to see such a large number of Abbey A Block turning out to support Maddie. It clearly meant a lot to her and surely gave her a great lift.

Also on Sunday, Rebecca Brown (Upper 6th) received high praise from the adjudicator for her flute performance in the Senior Woodwind class. Gennie Luk gave a near perfect piano performance but was not able to repeat her win of last year. The piano class was of an astonishing standard, and Genie was gracious as ever, when the prize was awarded to two Mitre girls.
