Lucy elected Consul of the Debating Society 2010-11

Many congratulations to Lucy Watson L6M who has been selected as Joint Consul of the Debating Society for next academic year. Instead of a single President this year in the egalitarian tradition of the Roman Senate, DebSoc have elected two Consuls, "first among equals", and these were unanimously chosen as Matt Hodges and Lucy Watson.

Lucy has been a very active member of the Debating Society this year both as a Secretary of the Society and as a speaker in public debates. Mitre Head of House Emily Burtwistle U6M has been President of the Society this academic year and it is wonderful to see her handing the Society over to another Mitre girl. Ellie Rees L6M and Victoria Leavesley L6M have also spoken in debates to the Society during the course of the year.

We wish Lucy the best of luck in this important position, and look forward to seeing the debate titles she and Matt decide on for DebSoc next year.
