Two of Leicester Tigers’ senior academy coaches visited the School yesterday, as part of a new link intended to inspire Reptonians to become the Premiership rugby stars of the future.
The coaches held afternoon sessions for all of Repton’s rugby players, with both juniors and seniors benefitting from their considerable knowledge and expertise.
The Junior XV were treated to a master class in continuity and the development of attacking phases, before a lecture on the discipline, diet, nutrition and conditioning required of any aspiring rugby player.

The 1st XV squad were then put through their paces in a tough and physical session, looking particularly at game management and defence organisation, as well as experiencing the challenging rucking drills practised by the Tigers’ senior squad on a weekly basis.
School rugby captain Sam Keen (N) thanked Tigers’ staff for their time, adding that the experience had been invaluable, with all boys able to experience the standard of coaching and drills required in developing a Premiership standard rugby player.
Further coaching experiences will follow as this link progresses, offering tremendous opportunities for rugby playing Reptonians to experience the atmosphere and standards of the Aviva Premiership’s leading club.
