On a very hot summer's afternoon on Monday 24th May, the 3000m finals and Athletics heats were held on Hall Close. Latham, who have dominated the school's running events in recent years, did so again with George Brockway storming home over half a lap in front in the junior 3000m. The intermediate race was an absolute cracker with both Josh Noakes and Max Riley in contention with 2 laps to go. A brilliant final lap from Cross House's Jordan King just pushed Josh into second place but the spectators were thrilled at such a tight finish. In the senior 3000m it was a Latham one-two, with Matthew Dewis winning the race (again!) and Josh Moore putting in a terrific effort to come a very close second. The heats for the 100m, 200m and 400m were just as successful for Latham, with the following boys qualifying for the finals first in their heat: Jeremy Williams (senior 100m), Harry Garland (junior 100m & 200m), Seb Howle (junior 100m & 200m), Christian Priestley (intermediate 100m & 400m) and Dominic Chaffey (intermediate 400m). Hopes are high for Sports Day in the last week of term...
