The Mitre Senior tennis teams had a wonderful afternoon of tennis on Tuesday afternoon and enjoyed some hard fought matches against the other Houses in the inter-House competition.
The Senior A team did superbly coming second overall to a very strong Garden A team. Amazingly at the end of the afternoon Mitre had won as many matches as the Garden so the decision was down to games. Mitre lost the competition by just one game - which is a huge testimony to the determination of the Mitre teams. It was wonderful to see Grace Baker and Lottie Jameson playing up as first pair, and exhibiting some hard hitting and talented tennis. Also in the A squad were the powerful combination of Chloe Williams and Sophie Davies, who also played some excellent tennis and played with great flair.
In the B team competition there was also some superb tennis played and the girls certainly enjoyed their afternoon on the courts, coming third overall. Ellie Green played particularly well with Hannah Barker and the girls won all three of their matches. There was also a lovely House spirit from Emily Boyce who stepped in at the last minute as a replacement.
It was wondeful to have so many girls involved in the competition and testament to the Mitre that there were extra players waiting to play in case of injury. Matches were won and lost in great spirit and many congratulations go to all of the team who played with such skill and humour.
