Junior League Football

We started the season off with a great first match against The Cross, we fielded what we thought was our best team and our work paid off with a tantalizing 3-2 victory, with two great goals from Owen Staley. We went into the next game against Priory in high spirits, and by half time we were 3-1 up. We scored another early on in the second half to make it 4-1, but in the last 15 minutes we just collapsed, and with a minute to spare, we let in the equaliser. With four points out of two games, we were confident, perhaps too confident, and I think this was our downfall. Against School House, in the next round, this time with the help of Felix Waters, who was dropped by the A team, and could therefore play for us, we went into half-time at 2-2 against strong opponents. We believed that we could win that match, but yet again tiredness, the missing of our star centre back Walsh, or over-confidence led us to concede three in the last few minutes. The next match against New House is best not spoken about, but with us not getting the rub of the green, and New getting plenty of lucky goals, they managed to demolish us in an embarrassing defeat. In our final match against Latham, we needed a draw to secure our path to the semi-final. They scored first, but we quickly came back and scored two quick goals. After half-time, we let in one, and then again, we collapse and lost 4-2. When Priory beat Cross, and ended with a better goal difference, we ended the season finishing 5th in the league, missing out on the semis by a worse goal-difference.
