Jordan King (Cross) overcame a crumbling track surface, torrential downpour and waterlogged engine to be crowned 2009 Asia-Pacific KF3 Champion after competing in Macau this month.
In Jordan’s latest karting event he quickly got to grips with a demanding race circuit and eased into pole position, qualifying by just over seven hundredths of a second, even though problems with the track surface were causing it to break up and rendered it very slippery and dusty.
Jordan went on to triumph in both of his heats, by a staggering four seconds in the first as he proved to be the only driver capable of lapping beneath the 52-second barrier.
A similarly untouchable performance in the pre-final – winning by almost four seconds again – earned Jordan pole position in the all-important 21-lap grand final, shortly before which the heavens opened with a real vengeance. Difficult enough to be so consistent in the dry, to produce the kind of performance he did in the wet was a superb effort, as Jordan pulled off another success and completed a full house of fastest laps that allowed him to add to his Kartmasters glory from earlier in the year, with another major trophy.
After his success in the event Jordan commented; “There are four big international karting events everyone wants to win and the Asia-Pacific is one of them. I can’t really put into words how it feels to have done that – it’s just amazing! Given the prestige of the event, it’s definitely the biggest and best win I’ve ever had. It hasn’t really sunk in yet to be honest...”
