Joie Leigh came runner-up in the Hockey Writers' Club Awards for Young Player of 2010. Here is an extract from the article:
Cannock’s Jo Leigh, formerly of Wakefield and Belper, came in a close second in the awards. Jo was selected for England Under-16s a year young in 2008 and won a silver medal in the Europeans at The Hague in July 2008. The judges were very impressed by her nomination from GB & England international Martin Jones at Repton School and have no doubts his predictions of senior international honours will come true.
Joie has made an indelible impression on the sporting life at Repton since her arrival here in 2009. She has won Indoor and Outdoor National titles as part of the Repton hockey 1st teams, swam like a fish to help Garden win the House Swimming, and won the girls' Steeplechase. A true athlete. The Garden are lucky to have such a star in their midst!
