Last week we had two wonderful individual and very different achievements for Mitre Girls in the L6th.
Following her time at the Eton choral course in the summer, Charlotte Graham has been given the prestigious honour of being selected to sing with the Rodolfus choir. The Rodolfus Choir is made up of singers aged from 16 to 25 who have been chosen from past and present members of the Eton Choral Courses for prospective choral scholars. Many members of the Choir are choral scholars, some are at music college, and most hope to make a career in music.Since its foundation by Ralph Allwood in 1984, the Choir have toured extensively in Europe, and have also appeared throughout the United Kingdom at venues great and small, including St John's, Smith Square and some of the country’s most glorious cathedrals. The Choir is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 3’s Choral Evensong, and has featured on Classic FM, as well as appearing on BBC TV’s Songs of Praise and in the Channel 4 documentary Alex: A Passion For Life which followed preparations for the choir’s performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion at Cadogan Hall in April 2009.
As well as the excitement of Charlotte’s invitation to the choir we have also been celebrating Stephanie Hale being chosen to attend the U17 HiPAC training camp this coming weekend. This represents being assessed as one of the best 64 hockey players in England in the U17 girls age group after 9 months of training, matches and assessment at county then regional level before being selected for this National camp. Stephanie was one of only four girls from the Nottingham Junior Regional Performance Centre to be selected for HiPAC (High Performance Assessment Camp). One of the key moments for her selection was her winning goal for Nottingham Lynx against Oxford Lynx which impressed assessors who highlighted her effectiveness in the D as well as her winning mentality.
We wish Stephanie every success as she travels to the camp this weekend at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre to play in front of the England selectors.
