Hugely successful Sixth Form Invitation Dinner!

Hugely successful Sixth Form Invitation Dinner!

Last night saw the annual Sixth Form invitation dinner being held in the Mitre. The dinner is organised every year by the L6th who choose a theme, design invitations and menus and decorate the dining room for the occasion.

This year’s theme was “Monopoly” and the girls had done a superb job of making decorations themselves to adorn the walls of the dining room. These ranged from a temporary “Jail” to the Monopoly board destination signs being put up around the room. There was also plenty of “Monopoly money” on the tables and even large versions of each players piece from irons, to top hats and cars!

The evening started with a drinks reception on the private side. The beautiful weather meant that this could be held on the lawn and it was lovely to see the girls and their invited guests mingling together. The school photographer kindly came to take photographs of the girls and these will be on the Mitre gallery in the coming days. The drinks reception was followed by a delicious three course meal, the menu for which the girls had designed. The guests enjoyed this, and it was fun to see them experimenting towards the end of the meal with the helium in the table decoration balloons! The final section of the evening saw the tables pushed back and the dining room transformed into a dance floor. With the weather still lovely, many of the guests and girls returned to the garden to chat and play croquet.

A wonderful occasion, which saw the hard work of the L6th well rewarded. It was also fantastic to have the A Block girls involved and acting as waitresses for the evening and they did a superb job throughout the course of the evening. As ever, the staff team were fantastic and our special thanks goes to Mel and Sally for their delicious meal, Matron Margaret for all she did to help prepare and during the course of the evening, Mary for her help behind the scenes and tutors Mr Cadman, Mrs Nield, Mr Kew and Mr McClary who all helped with the smooth running of the evening.

It is wonderful that at the same time as enjoying themselves and having such fun, the pupils have also managed to raise money for charity and this will go towards the House total for our up-coming “Race for Life” event on May 8th.
