Our need for at least £4,000,000
from the Campaign

The total cost of Science Priory is estimated at £8 million. The School, which has spent some £1 million on capital expenditure since 2003, can find up to  £4 million from its own rescources. This leaves a balance of at least £4 million to be raised for capital funding, which is the objective of the Repton Campaign. While this is an ambitious target, even for a school as succesful as Repton, we believe it is achiveable. We also wish to raise additional funds for bursaries, so that we may achieve our initial objective of increasing the bursaries endowment to £5 million as rapidly as possible.

A Gift for the Future

Every gift to the School, regardless of size, makes a real difference and your generosity to Repton will have an everlasting impact. Repton is not richly endowed but due to increasing pupil numbers and with the support of ORs, parents and friends of the School, we are able to continue providing the very best for all Reptonians. There is a wide range of donation options available, from payroll giving and company gifts to bequests left in a will.

Bursaries

The long term aim is to build up a bursaries endowment of at least £10m, but a sum of £5m in the first instance would make a real difference to the range and extent of means tested bursary assistance we can provide, and this is our initial objective. Please specify if you wish for your donation to be included in this provision.

Other Ways to Donate

Donations by or through Charitable Trusts and Foundations
You may have your own charitable trust through which you may wish to make your gift. Whilst there will be no tax recoverable, it is of course possible to make recurrent gifts through such trusts.

Donations by Companies
The procedure for company donations has now been greatly simplified. Companies can claim corporation tax relief on all donations to charities, including covenanted donations.

Gifts of Shares
Gifts of publicly quoted shares, in addition to being exempt from capital gains liability, enable the donor to claim income tax relief on the current value of the shares, which makes such gifts extremely tax-efficient.

Giving by Credit Card
One-off donations by credit card (Visa and Mastercard) are welcome and can be made via the single donation form.
Other Gifts
Any form of gift is of course most welcome. Direct transfers of stocks, shares, property and works of art will not incur liability to capital gains tax. All outright gifts, including bequests, are exempt for inheritance tax. Contributions by CAF voucher are welcome. Please contact the Development Office for details

The Sir John Port Society

We understand that many people prefer the business of making a Will to remain a private matter. For this reason, we would, of course, respectfully guarantee your anonymity. On the other hand, the receipt of legacies is always tinged with sadness but slightly less so if we have had a chance to say thank you during your lifetime. For this purpose, we have created a special society. The Sir John Port Society was formed to recognise the generosity of those who contribute to Repton School’s future through a bequest to The Repton Foundation.

Membership of the Society is confidential and members are invited to an annual Sir John Port Society event. You will be invited, each year, to a lunch or a dinner in the company of the Headmaster and other members of the School. This will be an opportunity for the School to thank you for your affection, to keep you up to date with our current plans and to listen to your views.

If you have included a legacy in your Will to the Repton Foundation, or are intending to do so, please let us know. This knowledge will be treated with the strictest confidence and it will assist and encourage us in our work in the promotion of The Sir John Port Society.
