House Unison and Harmony

House Unison and Harmony

Whether we win or lose in House Unison and Harmony the girls are always winners in my heart... They always put on the performance of their lives and every year without fail Harmony singers make me cry. There are many proud moments as a houseparent, but watching all the girls perform together as a house on Friday night and put on a truly professional show really makes me burst with pride. I was disappointed for them that they did not win, but New House deserved the cup this year. Their performance was breath-taking and all the girls were delighted for them. The girls were happy enough with all the praise from staff and other pupils on the night and the next day as their performance was complicated, slick and fun to watch. We must give thanks to Sam Cooke for her input in the last week as without her it would not have been so professional. She really is an amazing music director and the girls were completely in awe of her.

Garden never needs an excuse to party so we celebrated our efforts in style afterwards and it was so good to see all the girls dancing together in between diving into the chocolate fondue. Somehow the music got louder and louder, but even all the staff were tempted to join in with some cool dance moves! A great evening was had by all.

When Harmony performed on the Saturday they moved the audience to tears with their moving performance of the Circle of Life. It was simply outstanding. Katie Tyson's deep soulful voice range through the audience, Siobhan's unique solo, Alex 's confident voice and Sophie Watson's powerful performance were all supported by the expert timing and beautifully prepared harmonies of Emma Casha, Amy Furness, Grace Sanderson and Hannah Forsyth. Wonderful!
