The end of year came round especially quickly this year and we had to say goodbye to our 12 U6 Leavers, as well as Miss Randle who is moving to the Abbey as we welcome Miss Mackenzie to Repton and to the Garden. I am sure the girls will make her feel really welcome and teach her the ropes as she settles in as our new Resident Tutor. We are sad to see Mrs Court go but know she will be back as she is going on Maternity Leave for a year. Happily Mrs Rushton (academic tutor for B Block) returns to help guide the ship and we are all so pleased to be having such a caring and talented member of staff return to the Garden. Mr Cooke also joins as a tutor (academic tutor for O Block)and will be a welcome addition as he is keen to be fully involved and who better than someone who runs all of Repton's social events? Miss Horne ( academic tutor for A Block) will be joining us as well so the Garden girls are certainly very lucky to have such a plethora of talent as tutors!
The evening was enjoyed by all and it was lovely to have Katy and Pippa's parents as guests on the last night of their daughters' school life. The food was wonderful (thank you Simon and Ange) and the entertainment by the leavers (and Katy Tyson) was very poignant. Stephanie Baker in B Block sang with such confidence and started a few tears flowing. The trickle turned into a flood when Ellie and Katy sang with such emotion and Rebekah played Danny Boy on the flute. The girls finished the night with a dance, the doors open to the Garden on a balmy summer's evening while others swung gently in the hammocks watching the candles flicker...
Here's to another happy year in the Garden! Cheers everyone!
