This afternoon saw the inter-House squash competitions played.
In the girl’s competition Mitre was drawn against the Abbey in the first round. A team of Lottie Jameson U6M (Captain of Tennis), Isabelle Hearnshaw L6M and Laura Carver 4M played some excellent squash in this first round to win 3 games to 0.
This put the Mitre into the final against the Garden. Laura played at number 3, and quickly won her match 2-0 against her opponent. She showed good skill serving and placing the ball well in the court and set us up well for the final two matches of the afternoon.

The second match was played by Mitre number 2 Isabelle Hearnshaw. This was a great game, and tense throughout. Isabelle came from 6-0 down to win the first game 10-8. She then went on to win the second game, which again was closely fought. Her racquet skill was evident as she served the ball and volleyed to place the return well.
The Mitre had won the competition 2-0 games overall, but played on into the third match. This again was a tense game, this time taken by a very good Garden opponent playing at their number 1.
Overall, an excellent afternoon, with the girls enjoying the opportunity for some inter-House competition on a cold Sunday afternoon. Many thanks to Mr Griffiths for organising the competition and to the Garden who gave us a nail-biting final.
