Many congratulations to both the Junior and Senior League sides who have made it through to the final stages of this year's term-long competition. The Juniors finished the campaign strongly with an 8-1 victory over Cross in round 3 and an unbelievable 12-1 victory in their final match against Orchard, with Barnaby Dykstra scoring no fewer than 6 out of the 12 goals. School House await them in the semi-final. The Seniors have gone one step further after some remarkable matches. In the final round of games, the boys needed to beat Priory by more than 4 goals in order to secure qualification for the semi-finals. After 25 minutes, we were 1-0 down. What happened next is the stuff of Latham legend...seven unanswered goals, five of which from the boot of Greg Flavell, meant a final score of 7-1 to Latham. In the semi-final we met Orchard, the pre-tournament favourites who had finished top of the league. Never a House to be intimidated, and always willing to step up to the plate as underdogs, the Latham Senior side put in a superb attacking performance; Elliot Carlile bagged a hat-trick (and also claimed the own goal!) as we ran out 4-0 victors. Cross House, with whom we drew 3-3 in the preliminary rounds, will be our opponents. Watch this space for news...
