The housemusic competitions once again provided some superb entertainment. Firstly theUnison where Field House performed Summer Nights with great energy andenthusiasm mirroring the John Travolta and Olivia Newton John classic from“Grease”. The girls sang beautifully and were rewarded with the best girls’house trophy. Then on Saturday evening a group of eight girls sang the “PeanutVendor” in the close harmony competition. They were led superbly by EllieHolroyd who after doing the arrangement spent hours leading the enthusiasticgroup of girls. There was some tremendous singing throughout the evening mostnotably by some of the boys’ houses and the pressure was on to try and win thetrophy for the third year in a row. However, when the judge, Robin Tyson aKing’s Singer, stated that in his opinion “they had nailed the difficult keychange” it highlighted the professionalism of their performance. To the girl’sdelight he awarded the harmony trophy to Field House and for the first time inthe history of the competition one of the houses had managed to secure victoryfor three years in succession; a memorable hat-trick of harmonies!
