Halloween to start the new half term!

Halloween to start the new half term!

The half term started with a burst of energy as the House dining room was decorated ready for Halloween and the kitchen prepared a Halloween feast for the girls to enjoy.

The first task was some pumpkin lantern making with the B Block and a number of boarders from A Block and L6th as well as some visiting music and sports scholars! There was some fierce competition to produce the best pumpkin but in the end first prize went to a pumpkin named “Henry” (pictured) from a talented pair of pumpkin carvers – Olivia Omilana 4M and Isabelle Hearnshaw (a pumpkin carving novice) L6M. There was some excellent skill shown by members of the B Block with Cordie Marshall showing us how to get the pumpkin skin to glow more in the dark and from Emily Winson-Bushby who managed to carve a spider into her pumpkin. This was a great way to start the new term and the boarders went off happily to bed after admiring each other’s handicraft.

Today we enjoyed some wonderfully imaginative food from our superb chef Trish. Lunch included a menu of “Eyeballs served with wiggly worms in a blood red sauce” and was followed by a House favourite –cupcakes with a Halloween twist. This was served from a dining room which had certainly been made to feel Halloween themed– especially with two enormous spiders dangling from the ceilings above the tables.

At tea time, Trish had gone all out and produced a feast of food including devils blood red cake, a jelly swamp and a treat coffin. Needless to say these were devoured as the girls could not resist the goodies laid out for them on the treats table.

It was a wonderful way to start the term, and lovely to have the girls back in such good spirits. We look forward to updating you with their outfits for “Wear what you Dare” day on Thursday of this week and on our progress as we prepare for the Sale of Work day and parents event in the coming two weeks.
