Guitar Hero Teddy Roberts was awarded the cup following Sunday's Bass Guitar competition. Former House Tutor and member of the Music Department staff, James Drinkwater, applauded the adjudication by Peter Gritton, commenting that he had never heard such an accomplished performance on a bass guitar. Teddy's rendition of 'Amazing Grace', the product of countless hours of dedicated practice, suggests great promise for this committed contributor to Repton's musical life.
Following in the footsteps of his older brother, Aaron, who won the Junior Piano competition in his O Block year, Nathaniel Paxton scooped the cup with a beautiful performance of 'Inquietude', a piece by Moszkowski. Nathaniel, who joined The Cross in September as a music scholar from Lichfield Cathedral School, was delighted to win the competition in his first year at Repton.
Earlier in the busy day of music competitions, Joey Ser was highly commended for his performance of 'Girl from Ipanema' and Gabriel Cowley demonstrated his versatility by reaching the finals of both the Junior Brass and Junior Piano competitions.
