Good luck to the U18 Girls Hockey Team who face Kingston Grammar School in the Girls' U18 National Indoor Final this Saturday.
The U18 Girls performed excellently in the group stages two weeks ago, from a strong win in their first game (10-0 against Hymers), going on to beat Alleyne's and Ipswich and then drawing their final group game against Taunton. This set up a semi final against Millfield School where a 7-2 victory ensured their place in the final this weekend.
Two other teams represented Repton in the National Indoor Final's on the 16th and 17th of January, but unfortunately did not make it through to the overall final this weekend. Although the U18 Boys did well to make it through to the U18 semi-final after their four group matches, they narrowly missed out to Ipswich School who battled back from a Repton half-time lead of 3-1 to win the match 4-1. The U16 Girls' team were disappointed to lose 2 games in which they were initially winning and to be knocked out of the competition before the semis, however their game showed excellent tactical awareness and we look forward to seeing them compete again next year.
If the girls are successful this weekend it will be our first U18 indoor title, having won the U16 title in 2006, it will also be the School's 7th National hockey title in just 5 years.
The match takes place at 17:30 on Saturday 30th January at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham and spectators and supporters are most welcome.
