Cameron Shaw (4S) has just won the Public School U15 age group ISGA Championship and came 2nd overall. This is an annual competition with entrants from around 30 schools participating, including a school who travelled all the way from South Africa.
The competition was held at The Shire, a challenging Seve Ballesteros design course in Potters Bar. Cameron, who is a member of the Chevin Golf Club, was playing off 2 handicap and helped the Repton team, also including John Jones (U6L) and Matthew Kumeta (L6P), achieve a very respectable 4th place in the Team Nett competition. Cameron won the U15 section with a 73 gross, a score that placed him tied 2nd in the Senior competition.
Although only 15 and without the stature of some of the older boys, the quality of Cameron's ball striking, excellent course management and first-class short game still see him as a strong competitor.
Last Thursday Cameron also won the Individual Trophy in the Repton House Golf competition with a 72 gross at Burton G.C., helping School House to win the overall event. He has a bright future in the game.
