Match Report:
The timing of this tournament is never ideal for us as this is predominantly the hockey term whereas our opponents play throughout the Michaelmas term. With that said however, the results show that the girls performed well and were extremely successful throughout the course of the afternoon. We have plenty to work on – we were not at our best, and fitness and injury played their part but there were many positives to take away from the experience as this was the first time the girls played together as a team. Horn and Parkin (capt) had a cracking afternoon and worked beautifully together in and around the circle. Some fabulous shots were scored by Horn, and Parkin did a huge amount ‘behind the scenes’ working on interceptions and rebounds. Feeding in to them was Tyler, Parkinson, King and Cornish (the latter making her debut for the firsts and she performed extremely well with great consistency). Holroyd was her usual feisty (yet fair!) self and intercepted numerous valuable passes into the D and Stewart Sandeman also worked tirelessly to keep her shooter at bay. In conclusion, this was a valuable afternoon of netball highlighting our areas of strength and weakness that will inform our training as we move forward. Our second place position now secures us a place at the Regional finals and for this the girls should be congratulated. My thanks go to Mrs Beeston who kindly gave up her afternoon to umpire in the tournament and to our trusty supporters on the side-line!
