The Repton girls started the day slowly as King's Worcester proved to be resilient opponents. The first game was goal-less until the thirtieth minute thanks largely to some woeful play in front of goal and some excellent last-ditch defending. The game opened up though after Shona McCallin opened the scoring from a short corner.
A rhythm was found against Newcastle as ten different players got on the scoresheet. Jo Leigh scored the pick of the open-play goals after an excellent move was deflected in from a Rebecka Siebert cross and Ellie Green and Sophie Hawkins scored from very good short corners.
Lowri McIntosh and Rebecka Siebert scored spectacular reverse-stick strikes in the final game of the day against Leicester Grammar. Lowri has been making the most of her recent brief spells in the forward line! Both Leicester and Repton had already qualified for the next stage of the competition so the scoreline was unimportant. The standard of Repton's hockey improved as the day progressed and this will be crucial in the next round. The squad depth that this side had really helps as regular changes for every player in every position helps them to be fresh when it matters most.
