Match Report:
The U15B team played a strongly contested match against Oundle on Saturday. The Repton side faced their stiffest opposition to date and admirably rose to the challenge, playing some splendid hockey. The final 0-0 score was frustrating because Repton had the majority of the pressure but just couldn’t find the goal! Lauren Phillips dominated the centre of the pitch and moved the play around well, right up to the final whistle, to open up opportunities for the mids and forwards to make advances on goal. Ellie Brown played a disciplined game and maintained the width on the right hand side of the pitch to open up a number of shots on goal. The highlight of the game was a superb Repton short corner which was stopped and struck by Ellie; it would have been a superb goal had it not been for the reflex save by the Oundle keeper. Repton maintained and even built up the tempo of play right through the match to command an ever more dominant influence. The forwards tried many option in the circle to penetrate the Oundle defence but the Oundle team rose to every challenge with defenders stopping the ball with only inches to spare. For the first time this season the Repton defence had their first real test when Oundle broke through the midfield. Sophie Lamb and Emily Welsh played well and cut off a number of Oundle advance before they became too threatening and kepper Sophie Charlesworth made some good saves when called upon. Despite the rather frustrating 0-0 final score this is match that should be a real encouragement to team. Lots of very skilful hockey was on display and the whole team played well together to move the ball around the pitch.
