Match Report:
The wet and dreary conditions on Tuesday evening did little to dampen the spirits of the U15B team as they faced their toughest opponents of the season to date, Denstone. The game was far more competitive than the score line might suggest with lots of skillful hockey on display from the Repton side.
Early pressure from Denstone meant that Repton had to play quite a defensive game initially but the defense held strong and met every challenge. Sophie Lamb blocked numerous balls played down the right and was able to use the play to our advantage to push forwards. Repton were quick to intercept and committed to meeting the ball early and wanting to take control of the game. Phoebe Walters and Lizzy Duggleby were quick to push the attack forwards and a number of players including Ellie Brown, Heather Marsay and Immie Clarke had shots on goal but without success.
Denstone increased the pressure in the second half, focusing the play on the Repton defence. An early Denstone goal broke the deadlock and another followed in quick succession. Repton continued to rally and defended more shots on goal but as Repton tired Denstone maintained the pressure, adding another two goals to the tally.
