Match Report:
The girls were looking forward to this match as it would be their last game of the season playing as a team. Pip, Sammy and Grace will be playing in the indoor finals next weekend. The girls seemed much more positive and they wanted to win, with all of them wanting this is be a good game played in high spirits. Repton started well, passing the ball around and putting pressure on the Trent defence. Both teams gave away a penalty corner early on but then Repton managed to take the lead after Charlie played the ball into the circle for Rosie to get the deflection in front of the goalkeeper. Ellie scored just before half time after a good ball was played into the circle from Bethan.
At half time the girls were much more positive with each other and had some constructive things to say about the first half. This was a good game for the team; we were finally beginning to use what has been taught in training and show some confidence when on the ball and not panicking as we did last week. We were going around players and not through alongside passing the ball around the back which was proving to be effective. Caitlin got a good goal at the start of the second half and then Ellie got two more from good balls from Charlie for her to finish off. Trent did score one goal, this should not have happened and was down to lack of communication as to who was marking who. This was a fantastic way for the girls to finish the season as a team and we wish the others luck next week while the remaining girls take on Dean Close. Maddy was awarded man of the match; she has been consistent throughout the season and deserves some recognition. LJB
