Girls' U15A v Dean Close

Venue: Repton, water based astro, 2.00pm start.

Team: E Sharples, J Hobday, R Cordingely, C Graham, M Ewins, B Lewis, M Kelly, C Chadwick, K Benn, L Phillips, J Holroyd, S Charlesworth.

Result: Lost 0-2

Match Report:

This was the final match of the season and we were missing Pip, Grace and Sammy who were playing in the Midland indoor finals. Repton started off strong and were putting a great deal of pressure on the Dean Close defence. Ellie Sharples narrowly missed a chance early on but we still kept applying the pressure but just couldn’t find the space to play the ball through. A half time the score was 0-0 and there were a number of things that needed to be put right. The girls were finding it hard to work the ball from midfield up to the forwards and Dean Close were very good at applying pressure as soon as we got hold of the ball. Dean Close scored two reasonable goals mainly down the Repton not picking the players up early enough and letting them run down the centre of the pitch.

Caitlin had a good game, playing out of position at centre back and Maddy and Kate were solid at the back. This was a disappointing end to the season but on the whole it was been very successful and the girls have been a pleasure to coach. They have worked hard and have all improved as individual players and as a team. Well done to all that have played this season.LJB
