Match Report:
We played Trent earlier in the term and lost 3-1 so this result is a good indicator as to the level of improvement the girls have made. There were some positional changes and everyone played with 100 % commitment. It was a competitive game and real credit must be given to the back four ( Annie Broadhurst, Zoe Furness, Melissa Piekert-Brown, Lucy McSweeney ) who really functioned as a complete defensive unit. Caitlin Brooks joined us at the last minute and was completely unfazed by moving up a level and worked hard to gain possession on the left wing. Seve Matthews, Emma Atkin and Annie Findlay worked hard in the midfield where the commitment in the tackle was most impressive, sometimes verging on the brutal. The front three ran hard and linked up well but were frustrated on so many occasions. It was left to a long chase for Alicia, as the ball was worked behind the defense, to with the lightest of touches successfully guide the ball beyond the goalkeeper to take the lead. Fading light and and a determined Trent team made the last quarter of the game a tense one but Repton held out for a well-deserved win. Congratulations to all on a very genuine team effort.
