Match Report:
Repton managed to get the second half of term off to a winning start with a comfortable win over Loughborough High. I suppose, with most of the team having played very little over the past two weeks, it was inevitable that the match was a little scrappy at times. There were a few failings in basic skills and in particular the quality of passing was below the standard that they had reached last half-term. However, apart from an occasional lack of concentration and composure on the ball, the girls made every effort to return to the style of play that has won them so many games already. The forwards did a good job of stretching the game and offering width when we had the ball and the midfield and defenders tried to play with a high tempo by taking free hits quickly. Most pleasing of all was the fact that (most of the time) they remembered the importance of the whole team being active and involved when the opposition have the ball. Charlie Perkins scored in the first half and then two similar short corner goals in quick succession by Georgie Whitehouse and a late strike by Jess Variava sealed victory.
