We were beaten before the match actually began as we completely distracted by the sun, the courts and the fact that we were missing Lois and that it was so hot. Even though we were equally as talented as our opponents, we simply never really got going. Admittedly the courts were incredibly poor on the bounce which is so different to the courts that we are used to, but we should have adjusted and got into net much quicker to finish the points off. It is vital in tennis to use one’s mind to overcome our opponents and we never thought to adopt a tactical approach to our tennis or change the way in which we played. There were however, some moments of brilliance: Alicia and Esme played some blinding bass line shots, but couldn’t quite win through on the longer rallies, and the performance of the day came from Phoebe and Amy who stuck with it, and dug deep to actually win a set against their second pair. NMO
