Match Report:

This was not the end of season celebration that we were hoping for as a physically stronger and more skilful Dean Close team overran us from start to finish. Of course being without Georgie Whitehouse was a considerable disadvantage as we tried a variety of options in the middle of the pitch but none worked satisfactorily. Strangely, however, I was not too disappointed by the team’s performance as, throughout the game, they tried to do everything that they have learnt during the season and even as we continued to concede goals they managed to maintain their high levels of motivation and work rate. I don’t think there is a single player who didn’t impress me on Saturday and even Jess Variava’s forty yard run with the ball in the wrong direction made me laugh. It was also good to see Ellie Rylands score her first goal for the A team. Individually and collectively they have come a long way this term and this is thanks to their conscientious approach and willingness to work hard in training. I have had a tremendous time coaching them and I look forward to seeing them develop as hockey players over the next few years.
