Match Report:
This was a very encouraging performance and the result certainly highlights the strength of girls hockey at Repton at the moment. All players involved made a positive and useful contribution that helped to secure such a good win. There were, of course, certain weaknesses in the the performance that will need to be addressed in training in the coming weeks; however, at this stage of the term there was much to be pleased with and for the 2nd XI to beat a school 1st XI was fantastic. The quality of the play undoubtedly improved as the match went on and it was great to see all the players respond positively to the strength of oppoisition. An early goal from Freddie Juncker put Repton in the lead. Despite this, Kimobolton definitely had the better of the first half producing a wave of scoring opportunities - excellent goalkeeping from Annabelle Church meant that only one of these led to a goal. So, the teams tied at half time.

Freddie Juncker scored a sensational goal from 'push back' giving Repton the lead once again. Whilst still a close match, Repton were the better team in the second half. Smale, Lawrence and Jacques worked tirelessly in defence as did Johnson and Barker in midfield. It was also pleasing to see Mateena Rauf make such a positive contribution when she came on. Other standout performances came from Alex Brook and Lucy Cope on the right who linked up well together. Overall, this was a gutsy and well deserved win, in hot conditions, and it should give this set of players the confidence to do well against Solihull 1st XI on Tuesday.

Scorer - Juncker (2)
