Match Report:
The first match of the day was against Kimbolton and, although they scored the first two goals very quickly, we soon stepped up a gear and pulled ahead. Excellent play took place on all areas of the court and the 2nd VII played very well as a team. By the end of the first third, the score was 4-2 in our favour, and in the following 10 minutes we added 8 goals to our total. The final third saw the team work well defensively, preventing Kimbolton from scoring more than one goal, while pushing our total to 14.
The second match followed straight on, and comprised two 12-minute halves. The Leys' 2nd VII were a better team than the Kimbolton team and the scoreline reflected this. They particularly challenged in our goal D in the first half, making H Rayfield begin to regret her promotion from 3rds to 2nds! At half-time, the score was 5-3 to The Leys, but the Repton team continued to fight and really pushed themselves in the second half to bring the score back to 6-6. Given that this was the equivalent of a fifth "normal length" quarter in a row, they excelled themselves and should be proud of the final score.
