This was a delightful match to watch and even though the Trent team were playing with just four players as at the last minute players had to withdraw owing to illness, this was a great battle of wills. Alas all three pairs lost to their very accomplished first pair although Ellie Holroyd and Hannah Burn really gave them a run for their money and very nearly clinched it, but the girls all came through to beat their second pair and therefore draw the match. There were some really exciting rallies, and some fast and furious net play and it was lovely to see the fruits of all their labour over the course of the term come to fruition as they looked to attack the ball rather than hold back. More pleasing was the spirit of all the games, and the Repton girls captured the very essence of all that we stand for here at Repton – fair play, a good game and a smile along the way! With sadness we lose Ellie Holroyd as she is in her final year, and thank her for her loyalty to the team, but wish her well as she moves on to University life. Having said that, we have a great crop of girls that are with us for another year still and look forward to seeing them progress over the course of the next year. NMO
