Match Report:

This was a great start to our 2nd Team Aberdare Cup campaign. We began the singles with confidence, and whilst A Patel was up against it with an opponent of rating of 7.1, she fought hard to make her opponent work for the points and certainly did not make it easy for her. Whilst Avisha was eventually defeated, the other three Repton girls went on to win their singles with relative ease, and it was great to see W Mumby represent the school at tennis for the first time as well as see L Elson (B Block) play up at senior level. As we went into the doubles, we were obviously in the lead by 3 rubbers to 1, and Wiz and Hannah settled in very quickly and defeated their opponents conceding only two games. It was particularly pleasing to see them interecepting at the net and not playing just a base-line game. Avisha and Lois also played well, although the domination of the opposition number 1 when serving was at times unnerving!!!! They narrowly lost the first set (6-7), and since Repton had then managed to win 4 rubbers, the match ended there. A great start to the term girls! Well done! NMO
