England 0 - 1 Repton (Siebert (F))
Despite having to play in a snow storm for most of the game, the girls acquitted themselves very well. With a few players unavailable, the re-shuffle probably contributed to some uncharacteristically disjointed play in the first half and the need for some good defending. Step forward Sophie Hawkins who was outstanding throughout - as she has been for the last sixteen months in the 1st XI. I'm struggling to know what more she can do before she is selected for England Under 18s.
The second half saw an improved Repton performance and the move of the match midway through the half created the winning goal. Ellie Green glided past a couple of defenders and then drew the goalkeeper before laying the ball on a plate for Becky Siebert who finished well. Laura Smith played well causing problems with her tricky skills and Fabienne Peters, on her Repton debut, caused problems for England down the right hand side with her pacy runs.
Nottingham University are the next opponents and this game has been moved to Sunday evening at Highfields in Nottingham. The game will start at 6.15pm.
