GCSE Physical Education

The AQA syllabus will be followed. This involves the development and demonstration of competence in four chosen physical activities (and the laws, rules, techniques, strategies and safety factors of those activities) leading to a practical assessment worth 60% of the available marks. Before choosing this option, a pupil should therefore seek advice from the PE department as to his or her practical skills. Pupils will also learn human anatomy and physiology, and about the organisation of sports and physical activities in this country and will study the social influences of these. The other 40% of the assessment is by a one and a half hour written paper at the end of the second year of study.
