Over the weekend of the 15th-16th January, 5 Garden girls (Rhiannon Rogers, Maddie Sharpe, Alice Williams, Esther Gray and Joie Leigh) were part of the team crowned National School Indoor Champions for Repton’s second year in a row. The Finals were held in Southampton and with 4 group games followed by a semi-final and final it was a tough couple of days. Apart from a 3-3 draw with Millfield in the second game, we got through the group stages without too much difficulty although not playing our best. We met a strong and quick Coopers C & C team in the semi where Repton put in a strong performance to win 3-1, in what was quite a fiery game. Millfield beat Kingston in the other semi to set up a Millfield vs Repton final. We felt we had something to prove after drawing with Millfield in the group game and after a decently contested first half we were 1-0 up at half time through a pentalty corner. We came out in the second half wanting to extend our lead but equally aware we could also easily concede a goal or two. However, we managed to take control of the game scoring 2 goals in quick succession allowing the platform for a further 2 goals and although we conceded we closed out the game winning 5-1. Everyone played a part in the successful and enjoyable weekend which saw Repton defend their title.
