Repton is an ISFA Focus School, one of only eight institutions in the country which will receive focused support from ISFA, working with the Football Association, to drive football development in the school and particularly throughout the region. As such, we are looking to promote leadership and player development, this includes developing our players as future coaches as well as current players.
The FA Level 1 Award is the first step on a coaching pathway which leads to Level 4 (UEFA 'A' License) and sixteen of our pupils are going to get the opportunity to study for this, here at school, under the guidance of former Birmingham City captain Ian Clarkson.
It will be done over three weekends in the first half of Michaelmas Term. This will lead to the pupils developing a better understanding of the game of football as a whole, whilst also allowing them to pass on some of the skills and techniques they have picked up. Coach education is an important aspect of a comprehensive football programme and it is very exciting to be able to provide this at Repton.
As part of our ISFA Focus School activities we are also running an FA Skills afternoon for U10s in September. This will involve around 50 footballers who will be coached by specialist FA skills coaches.
