Fashion Show Divas!

The Mitre has been buzzing all week with preparations towards last night’s Fashion Show and I have to say the audience was not disappointed following an evening of wonderful creative talent and extraordinary modelling by a large number of girls from Houses and year groups across the school.

Mitre girls were heavily involved in the evening and it was wonderful to be greeted at the door by a raft of the Mitre L6th who were keenly giving out programmes and making the audience feel welcomed. It was also fantastic too to hear that Mitre was in the thick of it, helping backstage with make-up and hair.

On stage the talent and creativity on show was nothing but magnificent. It was mesmerizing to see some of the creations on show and from Ciara Hale U6M and Louise Buckland L6M we saw some truly magnificent designs in a collection called “Tribute to Alexander McQueen”. This was followed by a very clever set of designs from Hatty Hutchinson 4M who had crafted some beautifully sculpted dresses from newspaper called “Read all about It”. These were very clever in their intricacy and design and the audience hugely appreciated Hatty’s talent.

One of the cleverest twists of the evening came in a collection called “Mad Hatters Tea Party”. In this collection, Daisy Collins 5M, Rachel Higgins 5M, Phoebe Roberts 5M and Madeleine Whitten 5M wore their own designs and used costume and make-up to take us into the world of wonderland. They finished their flurry down the cat walk with some glitter dust and had the audience in rapped applause. Also very clever was the collection from Grace Cowley 4M and Tara Polglase 4M who had entitled their pieces as “Buttoned Up”. Appearing on stage later on was a beautiful design by OR Kate Dyer whose dress “Fine Art” played a significant part in the evening.

With Mitre girls Ellie Jennings Edwards 5M, Wiebke Green U6M, Emily Welsh L6M, Lucy Whale L6M and Zoe Buckland 4M also taking to the cat walk as models – there was no shortage of Mitre talent on the stage.

Many thanks to Mrs Benson and Mr Bournon for their inspirational leadership in helping the girls to be so creative in their designs and executions. I have no doubt that last night’s event will have sparked a real excitement in many who saw the collections and that in two years time we will see many more superb creations.
